KOYA, EXPLORATION AND TRANSFORMATION OF COCHAYUYO
Thesis presented to the School of Design of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile to qualify for the professional title of Designer. December, 2018.
"Cochayuyo exploration project through the transformation of organic material into a line of products based on its structural and translucent use, to generate environments and take advantage of its capacity as a natural light filter. This, based on the investigation of photography as resource to know its internal morphology."
___________

The project seeks to revalue and generate a second look at Cochayuyo, in which it is proposed to leave aside its nutritional character, and seeks to transform it into a product that can generate environments. A natural material extracted from the sea, native to Chile, is used and transformed into a product that causes unique effects of light characteristics. Lightness and resistance are key objectives for its structure, and its shape is configured to satisfy those requirements, as in the beginning, it did to resist the strong waves of the Pacific.
Furthermore, it responds to a logic that has to do with the creation process, which requires being Made in Chile, in order to deliver value to the complete manufacturing cycle and respond to a sustainable idea.
This is intended to capture the concept sought by the project's purpose: a seaweed that has the possibility of manifesting itself to provide warm environments thanks to the interaction of light due to its translucent quality and the exposure of its weaves.
